Would you like to start speaking one of the oldest languages in the Balkans? Would you like to learn Albanian? Would you like to know more about its culture and traditions? Then welcome to the Albanian Language and Culture course! Here are two facts about it: In the family of Indo-European languages it is a branch of its own. Its alphabet has 36 six letters, two of which are diacritical letters (ë and ç). 

In this course you will get to know and learn the basics of the spoken Albanian language. As the goal of this course is to expand the vocabulary, we will focus on concrete examples using the colloquial and most useful vocabulary in everyday life. Cultural and traditional aspects will be thoroughly integrated throughout the course in order to help you gain a holistic and comprehensive understanding of the language use. 

This course will take place in a hybrid mode, so you can opt to join online or in person. It is intended to be implemented in a laid-back manner, where the main aims revolve around communication and cultural awareness. Key themes involve: introducing ourselves and getting to know others, greetings and courtesy words, talking about our family, describing physical appearance and personality, Albanian hospitality, a day as a customer in Albanian markets, food and culinary, occupations.

This course is a general course, in which we practice all aspects of the language: listening and reading comprehension, speaking and writing. A textbook is often used, and the course may include homework. General courses progress from one level to the next.
